The stars just keep getting younger. Born on Saint Valentineâs Day 1987 in Kurgan, Russia, Julia Savichevaâs career continues to go from strength to strength. Sitting pretty atop the Russian and Ukrainian charts, with âEsli V Serdce Zyvet Ljubovâ, is not even such a remarkable feat considering her background; merely another landmark along her whistle-stop journey to super stardom.
Mrs Savicheva, Juliaâs mother spent twelve years working as a music teacher while Mr Savicheva, Juliaâs father, was an accomplished drummer. It comes as no surprise therefore that their daughter showed an appetite for music and performance from an astonishingly young age.

It was at the age of four that Julia Savicheva first lapped up the adulation of her public following a solo dance performance. But it wasnât until her appearance on the Russian Pop Idol equivalent âFabrika Zvezdâ (Star Factory) that fame and fortune beckoned. Although only finishing third in the competition, she had done more than enough to impress the Russian selection team for the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest. She travelled to Istanbul for the event and performed creditably, finishing in eleventh place and guaranteeing Russiaâs qualification for the following yearâs tournament.
Julia likes to spend her spare time in underground music clubs indulging her passion for âheavy musicâ. Though her tastes may have changed since her younger days, when she would do Karaoke versions of her favourite Whitney Houston and Toni Braxton hits, the heavy influence may explain the presence of Russian rockers Total as session musicians on her album âVysokoâ (High).
