Take a look at this backstage gossip from the Grammy’s and try and guess who said what…

A. “Being in a rock band is like running away with the circus except you always think you’re gonna be the ringmaster. You don’t expect that on more than a few occasions you may look … the clown, the freak.”

B. “This is the first time I’ve ever played the Grammys. I finally passed the audition.”

C. “I never like to be lied to by a girlfriend or agent and certainly not the president of the United States.”

I. “This is wonderful. This is a great honor. After 30 years making records, this is a very welcome award.”

J. “I didn’t expect to be up here. I showed up because I got nominated. All the other nominees are sitting at home in my record collection.”

K. “Thanks to God and the prophet and also my record company.”

L. “This is our concept, our dream, our sacrifice, our religion.”

1– John Legend, after winning the male R&B vocal performance award for “Ordinary People.”

2– Shawn “Clown” Crahan of the metal band Slipknot explaining the band’s penchant for wearing masks.

3- Kelly Clarkson, accepting the female pop vocal performance Grammy for “Since U Been Gone.”

4– Bono, after U2 won best rock album for “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.”

5– Willy Chirino, who won for the best salsa/merengue album for “Son Del Alma.”

6– Kanye West, accepting the award for best rap album.

7– Toumani Diabate, who won best traditional world music album with Ali Farka Toure for “In the Heart of the Moon.”

8– Adam Levine of Maroon 5 speaking to reporters backstage about the appearance of funk star Sly Stone.

9– Paul McCartney.

10– John Prine, who won for best contemporary folk album for “Fair & Square.”

11– Burt Bacharach on why he decided to make a political statement with his last album, “At This Time,” winner for best pop instrumental album.

12– Tim McGraw, joking about why so many performers were wearing white suit jackets.
