Madonna is desperately trying to shake off the increasing rumours of troubles in her marriage to Guy Ritchie. Ritchie, ten years her junior, has seen his career take a nose-dive whereas the Queen of Pop is currently enjoying what must be her twentieth resurgence. Working on her latest hit album, Confessions on a Dance Floor she seems to have developped a special relationship with a 28 year old music producer called Stuart Prince. Friends of Madonna have been reported as saying that Prince has been a Rock for the Hung Upsinger. Hmm… Let’s hope that she wasn’t looking out for her marriage on this particular rock.
Madonna will open the Grammys this Wednesday/Thursday with an animated appearance by the Gorillaz [Explicit Lyrics] [Bonus Tracks], Damon Albarn’s group who are brought to life by the animator Jamie Hewlett.

Lange Frans and Baas B, alias Frans Frederiks and Bart Zeilstra, are back on top of the Dutch charts with their second number one single “Het Land Van…” (The Country of…). The conscious hip-hop duo’s uncompromising approach and commitment to topical material, is borne out once more with their latest offering.
The duo started out as friends in their home town of Diemen in the Netherlands, but went on to form a rap outfit of the same name (or at least pronunciation), D-Men. Back at the top of the Japanese pop charts are veterans of Japan’s music scene B’z with their latest release “Ocean”. Tak Matsumo and Koshi Inaba may have prolific solo careers behind them, but it was as B’z that they made their name and as B’z that they continue to dominate Japanese pop music. With combined sales in excess of 80 million albums since they formed in 1988, the duo, it seems, are still as popular as ever.
Tak Matsumo first noticed Koshi Inaba’s raw and intense vocals at a talent show while still guitarist for the group TMN, produced by Komuro more commonly associated with Globe. Inaba, on the other hand, had no musical background to speak of. He was working as a maths teacher at that time. But Matsumo saw in him the perfect accomplice for a career that would meet with immediate success.

There’s no getting away from teen singing sensation Melissa O’Neil in Canada these days. The first ever female winner of Canadian Idol is enjoying unparalleled success with the album “Alive” at the ripe old age of… 17!!
Talking on the subject of the title track from the album, Melissa revealed the secret of her success was in the planning and sublime execution of each track. “The music and lyrics really put you into a zone. When the producers and I began recording the CD we knew the pop/rock infusion would move people. We wanted to create a record with a little bit of everything for the fans”.

Melissa even got the chance to explore her own song-writing potential on the album. “Safe Place To Hide” is entirely her own work and dedicated to her brother. It is a message of love and support to him featuring the chorus line: “I’d fly through the night to get back to your side, / I’ll be your safe place to hide.”
